I’ve never known the effects and benefits of an electric cigarette until I actually saw my grandfather use it. I’ve always thought that they are all the same, cigarettes and the electric ones. But, to my amazement, an electric cigarette surely had become friendly to the ones that had always been looking for a healthier alternative.

And yes, it may not be healthier to some people because they might think that a cigarette, is still a cigarette regardless the way it functions. The body still receives the same amount of nicotine and spending money is still an important factor. But, does these people got this idea correctly or not?

How do electric cigarettes work? It was also the same question I had in mind a few years back when I still didn’t have any idea on how these things work. It didn’t take me long enough to learn that an e-cigarette is battery operated since it is named as an electric device and nicotine is inhaled in the form of vapor. This device also requires different components before it can properly work.

Though there are many variations of an electric cigarette, these three components are always a must prior to being able to use it properly. A mouthpiece that is also known as the cartridge is attached at the end of the tube and it looks like a small plastic cup. This cartridge, by the way, is a disposable plastic. It is also the part of the e-cigarette where nicotine is placed. An absorbent material that has been induced with saturated liquid solution, (which can be flavored or unflavored) holds the nicotine flavor.

The next component is called the atomizer or the heating element. It is situated right next to the cartridge and it’s main purpose is to vaporize the liquid nicotine so the user can inhale it through the cartridge.

The last remaining two parts of the electric cigarette are the battery where all the circuits are located and at the end is the LED. A lithium ion rechargeable battery is used to power the atomizer. The last component that is the LED is used to tell the user if the device is working or not. Choose electric cigarettes that work perfectly to your taste and to your liking.
